Jonathan’s 15 years of banking experience were established in positions such as market president, middle market client manager, and relationship manager. A graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, he holds a bachelor's degree in finance with a minor in economics. He has expanded his education by graduating from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and the North Carolina School of Banking at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He serves as chairman of the Kerr Bank Family YMCA Board of Directors and is the chairman of their “We Build People” major gifts campaign.

Sabrina Stephens

Sabrina brings nearly 25 years of North Carolina banking experience to her leadership of the Wilmington market. Prior to joining North State, she served as a senior vice president and commercial banking officer at New Bridge Bank, and as a vice president and business services officer at BB&T. An alumna of Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, she is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and the North Carolina School of Banking at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She volunteers her time as a board member for the Cape Fear Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America and as a fundraiser for the Children’s Museum of Wilmington, where she previously served as president of the board of directors.

Chris Bruffey

A Garner native, Chris graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. Prior to joining the bank, he served the Garner area for six years as a branch manager, small business banker, and city executive for legacy Wachovia Bank. Active in the community, he is chairman of the Garner YMCA’s “We Build People” campaign and is a past president of the Garner Chamber of Commerce and the Garner Rotary Club.

P. Griffin Laughridge

A native of Wilson, NC, Griffin has more than 15 years of banking experience, most recently as a business development officer. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, the NCBA School of Banking in Chapel Hill, and the East Carolina University RMA Commercial Lending School. Active in the community, Griffin previously served as president of the Garner Rotary Club, as well as treasurer at Raleigh First Assembly Church of God. 

Sharon Moe

Prior to leading the downtown office, Sharon’s experience included positions such as branch manager, senior credit portfolio analyst, and commercial lender. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian studies from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, she also earned a master’s degree in finance from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business in New York, NY. Active in the community, she serves on the board of directors for the Downtown Raleigh Alliance and the Friends of the Wake Soil and Water Conservation District. She is also a member of Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women and is a volunteer with Junior Achievement.

John Norwood

Drawing from over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, middle market commercial banking, and small business and personal banking, John offers a unique blend of financial services expertise. With a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he is now attending the North Carolina School of Banking. He is an active member of the Triangle Chapter of the Urban Land Institute and the NC Housing Coalition, participates in community activities benefitting Hospice of Wake County, Passage Home/Safety Club, Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts of America, and Girl Scouts of America. Often sought as a speaker, recent topics include: Community Branding Workshop: Putting your Town to Work; Career Day: Thought About Becoming a Banker?; and, The Financial Business of the Church.

Dean Gooden
Senior Vice President and North Hills Market President

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Dean is a graduate of Tulane University where he received a bachelor of science in management with a concentration in finance. Dean has an extensive background in banking, corporate finance, sales, and procurement. He is active in the community through his involvement with North State Bank's Summer Salute of Hospice of Wake County and Habitat for Humanity. In the summer of 2015, Dean will be attending the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Jeff L. Williams
Senior Vice President and Wake Forest Market President

Jeff currently has over 21 years of banking experience in the Wake County area. Prior to joining the Bank, he served as a commercial banker and special assets officer for VantageSouth Bank. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a degree in economics. He then went on to receive his MBA from Campbell University. He is currently attending the North Carolina School of Banking and is actively involved in the community through involvement with Safechild, Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network, the Kerr Family YMCA. He also serves as the Treasurer of the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce.
