Larry Barbour

Larry D. Barbour
President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr.  Barbour has more than 35 years of experience in banking, particularly in the Wake County market. He began his banking career with Wachovia, serving in the role of vice president prior to joining Triangle Bank where he served as senior vice president and city executive for the Raleigh office. Larry is a graduate of North Carolina State University and the North Carolina School of Banking. As a member of the community, he serves on a number of boards including the John Rex Endowment Foundation (Finance Chairman), the WakeMed Hospital System, and as Chairman of the Hospice of Wake County Capital Campaign Major Gifts Committee. Larry has been recognized as a North Carolina State University Distinguished Alumnus (1997) and is a founding board member/treasurer of the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education. He currently serves as Vice President of the NC State Alumni Association. Mr. Barbour is a leader in the North Carolina banking industry, and he served as Chairman of the North Carolina Bankers Association in 2010 and 2011.

Brian Hedges

Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Officer

Brian joined North State Bank following a career at Stock Building Supply where he was a senior construction loan officer. An alumnus of Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting. He is a certified public accountant and serves on the board of directors for the Raleigh Chapter of the Risk Management Association.

Amanda Lloyd

Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer         

Amanda has served as the Bank’s Human Resources Director since 2005.  Her human resources experience spans more than sixteen years in various industries, including banking, academia, and scientific instrumentation.  Prior to joining the Bank she held human resources management positions at Varian, Inc. (now part of Agilent Technologies) and The University of Tulsa.  Previous banking experience includes First Citizens Bank and Triangle Bank. Amanda is an alumna of North Carolina State University where she earned a degree in Business Management with a concentration in human resources as well as the North Carolina School of Banking.

Sandra Temple

Sandra A. Temple

In addition to serving as North State Bank's chief operations officer, Sandra is president of CommunityPLUS, a division of North State Bank supporting the financial service needs of community association management companies across the US. She helped open North State Bank in 2000 after serving the former Triangle Bank (now part of PNC), where she was in positions such as vice president of cash management operations, vice president of branch operations, branch manager, and as a consumer and commercial lender. During her more than 20 years in North Carolina banking, she worked with First Citizens Bank in Raleigh as a project manager for mergers and acquisitions and with legacy Wachovia Bank. She has worked as a licensed sales representative with Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company, providing insurance and investments to professional groups. Sandra is a member of the banking committee for Community Association Institute National and is co-chair of North State Bank’s Summer Salute for Hospice of Wake County.

Kirk Whorf

Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Kirk has served as chief financial officer for North State Bank since the bank’s founding in 2000. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president and funds manager for Triangle Bank (now part of PNC), as chief financial officer for Unity Bank in Rocky Mount, NC; as an EDP audit manager and a transaction services manager. An alumnus of East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, with a degree in business administration, he is a certified public accountant and also completed the Graduate School of Banking program at Louisiana State University. Kirk supports the development of the North Carolina banking industry by serving as an instructor for the North Carolina School of Banking at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
