NORTH STATE BANK CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL SUMMER SALUTE FOR HOSPICE OF WAKE COUNTY

August 11, 2005

In only its second year, event nets $115,000 bringing the two-year total to $215,000.

Raleigh, NC. . . North State Bank's Summer Salute for Hospice of Wake County contributed $115,000 to Hospice of Wake County, announced Larry D. Barbour, president and CEO for North State Bank.

"There are so many stories of how Hospice has helped people in our community," commented Barbour. "Several of our Bank employees have benefited from their services and I have had a personal experience. This year's we raised 15% more than last year-and plans are already underway for the event in 2006. We thank all those who contributed their time, talents, and finances to such a great cause."

The event was held at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh and featured music by The Embers. Contributions were raised through ticket sales, sponsorships, a raffle, an auction, and donations.

Hospice will use the funds to support their indigent care programs and the Reflections Program for Children. Indigent care programs help those who either have no insurance or whose insurance coverage does not include hospice services. The Reflections Program is Wake County's only professional program that assists children and teens (from birth to age 21), as well as their families, with grief following the loss of a loved one.

Other Summer Salute sponsors included Barton Development Group, Professional Property Management (PPM), Red Star Oil Co., StrategiCommunication, and Wake Nephrology Associates. Next year's event will be held Saturday, June 3, 2006, at North Ridge Country Club.
